The Independence District used the Grundmeyer Leader Search firm and was very pleased with the process and the outcome of that search. Trent and his team listened to what criteria the board wanted in its next Superintendent and then helped find the right candidates to meet those traits. The Grundmeyer firm walked us through the process one step at a time after he had given the board an overview of what the process would be like. They did all the hard work, my biggest challenge was trying to find dates and times for our busy board members.
The process that Grundmeyer uses is different than any of us had ever used before but we liked the idea that he didn't have a set group of applicants that he was finding jobs for and had data about each of the candidates including their leadership style and personalities. We got to see every applicant and those applicants were then screened and scored based on our criteria. It was then easy to look at the top candidates as we moved forward thru the process. However, we were reassured by Trent that if we wanted to bring someone up from the bottom half of the list we were able to do so. Doing the preliminary interviews to narrow it down to 2-3 final candidates was super effective by using Google Hangouts. It saved time for our board and also the candidates.
Our final 3 candidate interviews were done with three different groups that were a mixture of admin/staff/students/community and business leaders and was a great experience for everyone. We had three excellent candidates at the end and not once was the board's decision influenced by the Grundmeyer team but they were there to answer any questions we had. They provided the facts for the board to make a decision and the board is excited about their selection.
We made our selection months ago and our community is still talking about what a positive experience it was for the community. Our board doesn't feel like they will have to look for a Supt. for many years but would use Grundmeyer again in a heart beat. The Grundmeyer team was great to work with and I could ask them anything and they were right there to answer my question or to help.
